Open Water Diver Course Information

Bouyancy control is the mark of a good diver and this 3 hour workshop will help you master the skills necessary to maintain that control. Underwater drills taught in our pool will help you fine tune your finning technique as well so that you reduce air consumption and drop weight. This is a non-certification workshop.

Do you want to extend your bottom time, lessen your surface interval, and maximize every dive? Become a NAUI Enriched Air Nitrox diver! Combine the course with the NAUI Advanced Course to explore new dive sites and undertake exclusive activities. This course allows individuals to learn about specialties and diving activities of particular interest. Your confidence and skill as a diver will increase while you experience the excitement of learning more about the underwater world.

Along with the master diver course the NAUI Rescue Diver course will teach divers how to manage risks and effectively handle limited in-water problems and diving emergencies, how to assist and transport divers, and how to perform surface rescues and rescues from depth involving both boat and shore based skin and scuba divers.

TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver

Are you looking to expand your dive time? Maybe you're a scientific diver or photographer looking to stay in the water a little longer?The TDI Advanced Nitrox Course qualifies divers to use enriched air nitrox from EAN 21 through EAN 100 percent within your current certification level to a maximum depth of 40 metres/130 feet during dives that do not require staged decompression. Often taught in conjunction with the TDI Decompression Procedures course, this can be considered the foundation of your technical diving career. TDI Advanced Nitrox is also a must for SCR or CCR divers.

TDI Decompression Procedures Diver

Are you finding your no- decompression limits (NDLs) a limiting factor to dives? Do you have to ascend sooner than you would like? As sport divers, planned decompression is not something that we do or have been taught.The TDI Decompression Procedures Course prepares you for planned staged decompression diving. With a maximum operating depth of 45 metres/150 feet, this course is your first step beyond the normal sport diving limits. The TDI Decompression Procedures Course combined with the TDI Advanced Nitrox course form the foundation of all other technical courses. After these two courses and some additional experience, the stage has been set for you to move onto additional technical levels.

Prerequisites and Gear Requirements

NAUI and DAN (Divers Alert Network) have teamed up to provide training in first aid and CPR. This one session course provides instruction in basic

first aid skills and CPR techniques. Additional training is available in use of AED's, Oxygen administration and hazardous marine life injuries.

Once you are 15 years of age and a certified scuba diver, you can expand your diving knowledge with a NAUI Rescue Scuba Diver or NAUI Advanced Rescue Scuba Diver course. Learn how to manage risks and effectively handle limited in-water problems and diving emergencies, how to assist and transport divers, and how to perform surface rescues and rescues from depth involving both boat and shore based skin and scuba divers.

CPR and First Aid certifications are required to complete this course. Your Rescue Scuba Diver training moves you on your pathway to becoming a NAUI Leader as a Skin Diving Instructor, Assistant Instructor, Divemaster, or Instructor.

Rescue Diver Course Information

Despite all the best training and planning, sometimes the unexpected happens. Whether due to environmental conditions, medical

emergencies or accident, divers and professionals may be called upon to intervene. In order to be prepared, NAUI in partnership with Divers Alert Network (DAN) provides training in First Aid, CPR, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, Oxygen Administration and First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries. All training complies with the latest International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) standards.

In addition to meeting NAUI requirements for leadership and dive safety, NAUI/DAN training is recognized by the US Coast Guard for meeting the requirements for a US Captain's Licensing. Certification at the professional rescuer level is also required for all active NAUI leaders and instructors and rescue divers. With NAUI/DAN first aid training, you are not only among the best trained divers in the world, you will also be among the best prepared to respond in the unlikely event of a diving emergency or accident.

Diving with a full face mask has advantages over open circuit mask and regulator diving. Breathing through your nose, protection from the cold and elimination of jaw fatigue to name a few. It also presents some challenges. The NAUI FFM course allows hands-on training to mask function, trouble shooting, proper fit and use in the water. There will be a classroom and pool session. Those desiring certification will be given the opportunity to dive the mask in the open water. A limited number of loaner masks are available for use.

Master Diver Course Information

The spearfishing specialty course is designed to provide divers with the knowledge and skills needed to safely spearfish in the marine environment. Big game tactics, fish identification, catch limits, and size restrictions on fish species will make up a significant portion of the class. Safe handling and maintenance of spearfishing equipment will make up the second portion of the class. Performance Freediving International the premiere freediving certifying agency has teamed up with NAUI to spread freediving training nationally. We have been affiliated with PFI for a few years now and this relationship should be great for both agencies and Rum Runner. We have world class instructors who are not only excellent teachers but they compete internationally representing the USA.

The entry level course is typically held over two days - including classroom, pool and open water sessions.

Would you like to lead dives and dive trips and take certified divers on vacations to the world's best dive sites? Many Divemasters are employed full-time or work independently supervising certified divers during club, store, resort or charter tour and travel activities. As a NAUI Divemaster you enjoy again and again adventures to which you introduce your clients. NAUI Divemaster certification is another option leading to NAUI Instructor qualification.

The NAUI Divemaster rating is the highest NAUI leadership-level certification with the exception of Instructor. The program is designed to train experienced and knowledgeable divers to organize and conduct enjoyable open water dives for certified divers.

NAUI values and respects the knowledge, skills and abilities of its instructors. As such, NAUI Instructors are authorized and can be approved to teach every level of diving in which they possess the training, knowledge and experience. NAUI also allows its instructors to develop their own "instructor specified" specialty courses. If you are someone who seeks even more adventure and specialization, NAUI provides pathways to gaining Public Safety Diver, Technical and Freediving Instructor ratings.

The NAUI Instructor Training Course (ITC) is designed to train and qualify NAUI Instructor member applicants. During the course candidate instructors learn effective methods to teach skin and scuba diving in compliance with NAUI diving course standards.

The course assures the NAUI membership that candidates who receive certification as NAUI Instructors have the knowledge, skills, fitness and proper attitude to do so.

Rum Runner Dive shop is actively training Divemasters and Instructors. Courses are time intensive and are scheduled based on demand.
